    Moorebank Intermodal Precinct: The Precinct

    Infrastructure

    < Back to Projects

The Moorebank Intermodal Precinct (MIP) is a 243 ha logistics and intermodal precinct with direct rail access to Port Botany (Australia's largest shipping port).

    Moorebank, NSW

This precinct is an open-access intermodal facility with a throughout capacity of 1.5 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per annum across the Import-Export (IMEX) and Interstate Terminals, operated 24/7 with automated container handling equipment.

The "twin-terminal" intermodal facility includes both an IMEX terminal and an Interstate Terminal. It integrates autonomous vehicles, automated materials handling equipment, and "dark facilities", and will be supported by approximately 850,000 sqm of warehousing, up to 8,000 sqm of commercial and retail service facilities, and 60 MW of rooftop solar across the estate.

Tactical has been involved in the MIP development from inception, working closely with our client QUBE Holdings and, subsequently, LOGOS in 2021. We have engaed with with numerous stakeholders, including investors, all levels of government, statutory authorities, agencies and local communities. We have acted as the lead feasibility, masterplanning and development advisor in forming the business case. Over the past 14 years, we have progressed the development by managing the delivery, design and contract superintendence of major infrastructure - including rail, roads, bridges, and terminals -  as well as significant on-site facilities.

The highly automated and integrated MIP development is at the forefront of technology and sustainability. To date, we have delivered physical works with a total cost of $1.5 billion, and continue to work on this nationally significant project.
